We had the chance to chat with Alex Latham, the Director of The Ministry, who graciously shared some insights on what makes this place so great.
Take us back to the beginning, how did it all start?
In 1991, we opened a nightclub called Ministry of Sound in a forgotten corner of South London. We went on to become the world’s largest independent record company – you probably have one our compilation CDs collecting dust somewhere.
Thirty years later we opened The Ministry, a workspace run as a member’s club, in a 50,000 sqft Victorian warehouse in SE1. The design is relaxed but functional with a bar, opening windows, gym, an outside courtyard and plenty of space to sit, relax, work and socialise – everything you wouldn’t expect to find in a standard office.
How does The Ministry model work?
At TM we keep it simple; 3 levels of membership, Hot Desk, Fixed Desk, and Private office. All members get access to our incredible facilities including gym, bar, deli, terrace, fitness studio, and meeting rooms. Experience is at the forefront of everything we do.
What is it like to be a member at The Ministry?
You arrive in the morning and are greeted with a smile from our Deli team as they prepare your favourite coffee. You head upstairs to your beautifully designed office, bathed in sunlight from the large opening windows. At lunch, you pick up a delicious salad, freshly prepared by our ex-Ottolenghi chef, and head to our events space for a panel talk on building your personal brand. After work, an expertly led fitness class in our Box studio awaits, followed by a quick glow up in our decadent vanity area and a party with DJs and live music in our bar.
