Many companies have given up their office during the past 18 months whilst the size of a company willing to commit to a long-term lease is getting bigger and bigger. This has provided huge costs benefits with the average desk in London costing £650 per month. It has also provided productivity and lifestyle benefits to employees, with most employees enjoying a hybrid workplace model.

However, as restrictions ease, companies are reconsidering if they really need a full-time office. It's clear that for some companies, meeting up as a team on a regular basis is important for collaboration and to build team culture.

So, can you rent an office for the day? Absolutely.

Offices are not just long-term commitments. The rise in flexible working means that operators are now offering offices to rent by the day.

Offices to rent by the day are available right across the UK. There is also the benefit of being able to rent an office fit for purpose for that exact day. Rent an office for the exact number of people that will be in, with the facilities your team needs and in a location which suits them all best.

The majority of offices to rent by the day can all be booked on-demand. Providing you with the flexibility to make last-minute decisions based on need. So if you need an office for your team to meet tomorrow then you can do so.

What about a couple of days per week? Of course.

Once you have found your groove, you might be want to book an office by the day for one day per week or one day per month at the same space. Or even a couple of days each week.

At Tally Workspace, we find the most popular days for teams meet are Mondays and Wednesdays. If you want to make a reoccurring booking then you might be able to benefit from a reduced price.

How much does a day office cost?

There are obviously huge costs savings in renting an office by the day instead of a full-time office. The cost of renting an office for a day will depend on size, facilities, and location but a good rule of thumb is £30-40 per person per day.

Do if you have a team of 5 then an office for the day will cost you approximately £150-£200 for the whole office.

Questions to ask before booking an office for one day a week

Thinking of bringing the team together once a week? Booking a private office for the day can be a great way to reconnect, collaborate in person, and give everyone a bit of structure — without the cost or commitment of a full-time space. Before you hit “book,” here are a few things worth considering:

1. What day works best for everyone?

You won’t find a perfect day that suits everyone, but a quick team poll can help guide the decision. Think about other factors too — like external meeting schedules, cost differences by day, and office availability. (Fun fact: Wednesday and Thursday are usually the most popular, but we’ve found Mondays are our sweet spot.)

2. What’s the most convenient location?

If you haven’t had a fixed office for a while, it’s worth rethinking the best spot. Look at where your team lives now, what transport routes they rely on, and aim to cut down on the collective commute time. Booking flexibly means you can even rotate locations as your team grows or shifts. Hubs like Kings Cross, London Bridge, and Liverpool Street are always safe bets.

3. What kind of space do you actually need?

It’s not always about matching your team size to the number of desks. Will you be having 1-1s? Group brainstorms? Quiet focused work? Some teams opt for a single private office; others book a mix of meeting rooms and coworking passes so everyone can spread out or take calls. It’s all about what makes sense for your working style.

4. What’s your budget — and how flexible do you need to be?

Planning ahead helps. Consider upcoming bank holidays, any expected team growth, and whether committing for longer could save you money. Prices can vary by day too, so if you're open to a less popular day (like Tuesday), you might get a better deal. Booking just one day a week can save up to 80% vs. a full-time lease — so you might get more for your money than you think.

5. What’s the plan for your office day?

Avoid the dreaded “office day full of Zoom calls” by planning your schedule with intention. Could some of your team meetings happen in person? Are there client catch-ups you could line up for the same day? And while you’re all together, why not make space for a team lunch or post-work drink? It doesn’t have to be elaborate — it just has to feel worth it.

With Tally Workspace, you can instantly book a private office that fits your vibe, your budget, and your team’s way of working. One day a week might just be the sweet spot. Want help finding the right space? We’ve got you.
